Hairdos that took centre stage at the Tony Awards

J Harrison Ghee @iheartradiobroadway and jharrisonghee

New York’s Broadway theatre fraternity turned out in force and in style for the recent

Tony Awards.

J Harrison Ghee, the first non-binary actor to ever win a Tony Award, had one of the

most standout (literally!) looks of the night, with a style that somewhat channelled Grace

Jones circa the 1980s. Ghee’s flat-top Afro had a side fringe and buzz-cut sides.

Lea Michele @leamichele

Stage and TV star Lea Michele of ‘Glee’ fame was a case book study of an elegant lob

that was flipped under and emanated from a deep side parting.

LaChanze @mslachanze

Actress, singer, dancer and Tony Award winner, LaChanze, probably had one of the

most eye-popping styles of the night. It comprised of sleek Afro puff buns arranged into a high ponytail, with embellishments dotted here and there.

Rebecca Wisocky @coreytuttlehair

Known to TV viewers from ‘Ghosts’ and ‘Devious Maids’, actress Rebecca Wisocky had

her signature auburn Pre-Raphelite curls coaxed gently back into an updo to highlight

her strong bone structure.

Rachel Brosnahan @joannavargasnyc

Rachel Brosnahan, star of ‘Mrs Maisel’, totally rocked a ballerina bun, with scraped back

hair and said bun perched high on the back of her head.

Betsy Wolfe @bwolfepack

Actress, singer and entrepreneur, Betsy Wolfe, went the mermaid-core route, with long,

wavy flowing blonde locks over an Ariel-style gown.

Ariana DeBose @joannavargasnyc

‘West Side Story’ star and Oscar winner, Ariana DeBose, had long dark tresses

becomingly clipped back behind the ears and left to cascade down her back.

Annaleigh Ashford @timmnolan

Award-winning actress, singer and dancer, Annaleigh Ashford, had her long blonde,

multi-toned hair in S-waves, tucked back behind one ear and flowing freely on the other

side of her face. (Report by Natasha Chisese and Joanna Sterkowicz)
