The HCSBC (National Bargaining Council for the Hairdressing, Cosmetology, Beauty & Skincare Industry) has issued a warning about someone falsely claiming to be a Council Agent who has been approaching Western Cape salons and demanding fraudulent fees.
Says the HCSBC: “It has been brought to our attention that an individual in the Western Cape is approaching establishments in the name of a Bargaining Council Agent and has sought to extract payment from the establishments for the ‘registration’ of the establishment with the Council.
“Please take note that the Council’s Agents are designated and appointed as such by the Minister of Labour and are issued an Agent number as well as a Certificate of Appointment. The Agent may be asked to produce such a Certificate. Agents will also receive new identification cards which bear their photographs as well as their agent number, in the New Year.
“A Council Agent will not ask for cash payments. If in doubt, please kindly contact your regional Council office for any verification that may be required.”
