How dirty is your beard?

A recent study conducted by a group of scientists in Switzerland found that men’s beards contained a significantly higher amount of bacteria than a dog’s coat.

The study took swabs from the beards of 18 men (ages between 18 and 76), and the necks of 30 dogs (from various breeds). The swabs were compared, and the researchers found that the specimens taken from the men contained a significantly higher amount of bacteria than the specimens taken from the dogs.

Every specimen taken from the bearded men showed high microbial counts, whilst only 23 of the 30 dogs showed high microbial counts. Seven of the men were found to have microbes that posed a threat to their health.

This study strongly reinforces the need for beard hygiene in the form of a twice-daily cleansing regime and moisturising with a beard oil.

Fino has created the Man Gel Face Wash to gently cleanse the face and beard and remove daily impurities. This multifunctional product also helps protect against ingrown hair and bumps.

The brand’s Beard and Shave Oil is a blend of non-greasy natural carrier oils and healing essential oils that nourish and moisturise the beard, as well as the skin underneath.
